Know The Dealer

Selecting a reputable dealer is key to ensuring you get a reliable hybrid car with accurate information, fair pricing, and post-sale support, reducing the risk of costly surprises.

1. Research the Dealer Thoroughly

  • Check online reviews on Google, Facebook, and Trade Me for customer feedback.

  • Pay attention to how the dealer handles complaints and disputes—a good dealer will resolve issues professionally.

2. Verify Dealer Claims

Some dealers overstate a vehicle’s condition or misrepresent key details to justify higher prices. Always verify things like:

  • Japanese auction sheet (for imports) to verify the auction grade, mileage, and condition before it left Japan.

3. Watch Out for Dodgy Practices

Example:

One of our customers paid $3,000 above market price for a 2017 Toyota Prius Alpha with low mileage, expecting a long-lasting battery. After purchase, he discovered the hybrid battery was actually manufactured in 2012, meaning it had been replaced with an older, potentially degraded unit.
