Brand New Batteries from a Toyota or Lexus Dealer

The most reliable and trouble-free solution, although a new hybrid battery is costly buying from an authorized dealer. Advantages include:

  • High quality: Toyota factory brand new part.

  • Warranty: New batteries come with 2-year 200,000 kms(in 2024) nationwide replacement warranty, depending on parts availabilities.

  • Longevity: Likely to last as long as the original battery.

This option is the most expensive but offers peace of mind and consistent performance.

Key Considerations

  • Budget: Not everyone can afford the price tag.

  • Vehicle age: For older cars, a rebuilt battery might make more financial sense as it better aligns with the car’s remaining lifespan.

  • Usage Plans: Buying a new hybrid battery is a smarter investment for high-mileage drivers and commercial users, ensuring reliability and longevity. However, it might be overkill for a typical 9-to-5 commute of around 20 km per day.

Note: There are parallel-import Toyota hybrid batteries available on the market. While these may be genuine Toyota parts, they are not covered under Toyota NZ’s official nationwide warranty. They are typically around 10% cheaper but do not include the benefit of nationwide dealership replacement and support.
